The objective of the emotional Intelligence perspective is to help improve the quality of relationships, which will bring both personal and professional benefits.
The term emotional Intelligence indicates a set of acquired skills and competencies that involves the ability to perceive, assess, and positively influence one’s emotions. These are distinct from, but complementary to, the logical cognitive abilities measured by Intellectual Intelligence. (IQ)
Traditional IQ tests only measure our logical, mathematical and linguistic abilities. In contrast, EQ deals with the social fabric of everyday life and we relate to ourselves, and each other, be it at home, work or play, Not surprisingly it is increasingly being recognised as a n important contributor to our success in our personal, professional and social relationships.
The benefits in developing EQ and the move towards emotional Intelligence is one of growing self confidence and maturity, an ability to be truly open, at ease and comfortable in our own skin; and a recognition that much of how we perceive the world depends entirely on how we see ourselves.
The Emotional Intelligence programme is conducted through one to one conversations. Each person is encouraged to set their own agenda and gaols, and discuss key areas and issues that are important to them, or which have emerged through the Feeling Alive programme. |
